What to Expect

When you come...
Be prepared to Worship... Be prepared to Learn... Be prepared to make new Friends!

If you are thinking about visiting the Church of Christ you might be wondering what happens and what it will be like. Here is a little introduction so hopefully you will feel at ease.

  • Sermons and Adult Bible studies~  For every service (Sunday am and pm and Wednesday) we have either sermons or classes available for adults. You might like to bring your Bible as we have messages which come from there or there are Bibles available on the pews to use. The Elders and other men of the church takes turns with the preaching and teaching so you will hear a variety of styles. The sermons and classes typically last somewhere from 30-45 minutes.

  • Communion~  Every Sunday morning we have a time set apart (during the singing time) when we have communion (or also called the Lord's supper). This is a time we use to remember all that Jesus went through when he died on the cross to save us. For the communion the men will pray up front and then a couple of trays are passed around through the benches. One tray holds a small piece of unleavened bread which represents Christ's body, The other tray holds little cups of grape juice which represents Christ's blood that was shed for us. Communion is open to anybody who wishes to partake but should be done with understanding of what it is about.

  • Fellowship time~ On Sunday mornings we start at 10 am with a fellowship time. Pastries, Coffee and Juice or milk are served and we enjoy spending the time visiting together and getting to know people who are visiting.

  • Singing and Worship time~  For all of the services we start with a time of Singing. We enjoy a wide variety of music. Most commonly we sing accompanied by a piano, we also at times sing accapella (just voices), with a praise band, with a bluegrass band or just a guitar.

  • Childrens Classes~ After the singing and communion are over then the children can go downstairs to classes for them. We have children's classes on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. If a child is shy and reluctant to go a parent/caretaker is welcome to go down with them and stay with them as long as they need. Or if the child would rather stay upstairs we do have activity bags available.

  • How to Dress ~ Feel free to dress however you feel most comfortable and modest. On Sunday mornings you will probably see many of the women wearing dresses or skirts but it is quite common for some to be wearing slacks and jeans as well. The men tend to dress fairly casually with often a dress shirt and slacks or even jeans and a t-shirt. A suit and tie are quite rare but we certianly don't mind if that is what you would like to wear. For our evening services most people dress casually.
